Emotional & practical support
We can support you at the Compass Centre for up to 6 months at a time with any of the following:
Emotional support
The first step in any recovery can be difficult; trauma survivors sometimes feel overwhelmed and struggle to feel safe. We can work with you on feeling safer and to manage your thoughts and feelings, supporting you to find a way forward after a trauma.
Practical support
We can support you with practical help in the areas of your life that have been affected by the trauma you experienced, such as: safety planning, attending appointments, expressing your needs to other services, help with benefits, help with housing, and more.
Meaningful activity
We can support you to re-engage with the things that previously brought you joy and help you to discover new things that allow you to feel safe and well.
Goal setting
We listen to what you want to achieve and support you in taking small, achievable steps towards this.
Resources
We can provide you with resources and information on a wide range of topics, from the effects of trauma to information for loved ones supporting you.
Signposting
We can help you to find the support you need elsewhere in your life and support you to work with other services.
We believe you, we listen to you, and we know it was not your fault.
These are just a few of the things we can do to support you. Support is always led by you and based around your needs. We believe that you are the expert in your life, not us. But it is our job to be here to support you and give you access to the right tools to find your way forward.
